Relax... Eat... Repeat...
So, I may or may not be tormenting Roxanne with the little details of the wedding that SHOULD (will) take place onboard Regal Princess on Sunday. There’s no time like the present! It’s been over a year since Steve and Roxanne got engaged. It’s been over a year since I threw a surprise bridal shower. It’s been over a year what I have waited patiently for these two to plan something on their own. It’s time for Chantel and I to get this party started!!!!
Dancing clouds! We have been treated to some amazing alpenglow sunsets. Though not as many as usual, we still catch one from time to time. Having only an interior stateroom with our casino offer, I can’t wake up predawn and snap photos like I usually do. Maybe that’s why I’m sleeping so soundly! This little cave of ours has been utilized far more than expected. Quiet reading time, Instagram scrolling time, movie nights with Princess’ many genres of movies provided free on the entertainment system.
Hot, hot, hot! Since the heat gets to me, I canceled our excursion, sadly….the plan was to go to Maho Beach to take pictures of the low flying commercial jets right overhead. For years, I have wanted to do that… I’m sure I’ll get another chance. If, for some reason I don’t… please, one of my friends… will you photoshop my picture with the plane overhead? Please?
Instead of the excursion, we opted to walk around the port area. It was cute. But hot. There were several “Duty Free” shops but all I wanted was a dish towel, an ornament for my travel tree and a coaster. You know, you can never have too much junk haha! There was a cute outdoor bar with a thatched roof. If we didn’t have free cocktails onboard, I would consider enjoying the St Maarten experience. The heat got to us and we quickly headed back to the ship!
Understandably, you may be wondering what on earth I’m up to… well, let me tell you. For the past several nights, the cabin next door has had arguments in the middle of the night. The cabin door slams, tears, curse words… such a great way to wake up from a deep sleep. Two nights ago, the man entered the cabin shouting “f-bombs” directed at his wife. She was crying. Drawers started opening and slamming shut. Then silence. We decided that she was an abused wife… and maybe took it too far but we figured he had killed her. The next morning, only the husband walked out of the room.
Well, boy were we wrong! The fighting started again at about 2am this morning. She was clearly drunk. He was over it! Their fight went on for pretty much most of the early morning hours. All was calm until this afternoon… the happy couple returned to the cabin. She was definitely wasted. The husband was angry because, as he said, “you chose alcohol over your family”. She was silent. Then he said, “you literally said you’d rather sit and drink than have dinner with the family.” Oh my… this battle went on for a couple of hours. Eventually, their door opened and Roxanne opened our door to pretend to take down the door decorations… Drunky Monkey said, “Oh you’re the party people! Your door is so fun! See ours… we have a Canadian flag and a couple of other things”. So turns out… she begged enough, promised to be good and they went out. They will be staying on another week so I’m guessing I’m in for more “fun”. PS The only reason I listened because we weren’t sure if we were going to need to call for help. What we could hear clearly was “You hurt me” and lots of weepy tears. If she was in danger, we wanted to help. Ironically, it seems the husband is the one in trouble…
Here we have the second example of Roxanne agreeing that Sunday, October 4 is a great day for a wedding! She’s practiced her words. Whew… that makes all the planning so much easier. The fun part is that the ship has Stargazers… Roxanne’s favorite flower. So, we can make her dream bouquet for her to carry from the bathroom, through the bedroom and living room out to the balcony. It’s a sea day so we will be out in the Atlantic… and I have all the music ready to go.
Still warm long after the sun set, we chose to watch the Steeler’s Game on the 16th deck. Facing the large screen, Browns fans set up camp to the right and Steeler’s fans to the right. Not realizing there were “sides”, we initially sat on the wrong side. Oopsy. As soon as we noticed too many people cheering for the wrong team, we picked up our things and headed for the opposite side of the pool! We wanted to be in friendly territory… What a heartbreaker of a game! It could have been so much different with a couple of different play calls. Tomorrow will be preparing for the arrival of Roxanne’s family… doors to decorate, arrangements to be made.
